Case Xx Knives That is, the plain edge excels in push cuts, and the serrated excels in slicing cuts. Hollow ground blades have a thin edge that continues upwards, and is the grind is produced on both sides of the blade. It is used in applications where slicing is the main requirement, and a point is either not needed or would actively get in the way.

Often used for swords hardened in the low 50s rc because of its toughness, and is also used for hard use knives hardened up near the 60s rc. The rais tribe preferred the bhujpore style, which has a wider blade, while the gurungs, thapas and magars opted for what could be called the standard kukri. For steels, were playing off toughness versus edge holding versus stainlessness versus sharpenability. Chisels - as you might expect, chisels are used to cut or gouge the steel. The limbu tribe favored the sirupate kukri, which has a blade somewhat long in relation to its width. Ive been playing with the kukri for over 50 years, and im still fascinated by it. I grind ats 34 and 154 cm stainless steels.
