About Cold Steel Katana

Cold Steel Katana Articles and information from knifeworks.com

Looking for a Cold Steel Katana, or Knife? One of these is an excellent piece to add to a collection. Sharp, stunning, and beautiful, they will surely be the talk of your next party. Here's how steel can be treated for heat. A process of careful heat-treating allows for very hard blades that are resilient and tough. When done right, this is very sturdy and stands up to extremely hard use.

Cold Steel Katana

In the best hollow-handled knives, both blade and handle are cut from a single piece of steel. This extreme resistance to corrosion via its high chrome content also makes it a perfect choice for knife blades which are carried close to the body or in a pocket and blades which will receive little or no care or maintenance. These alloys such as stellite 6k, boye dendridic cobalt, and talonite are much more expensive to work than steel, but tests are showing excellent results. Damascus steel, which is layered and instantly recognizable by its beautiful patterns, is typically used in high-end knife blades and has respectable edge retention. The edge on a hook blade curves in a concave manner. This point is the sweet spot on a baseball bat, tennis racket or a sword. If you do a lot of slicing, you'll need to decide between a coarse-ground plain edge and a serrated edge. For less-delicate cuts, the index finger is kept safe behind the quillion. These steels are fabricated into many types of tools or into the cutting and shaping parts of power-driven machinery for various manufacturing operations. Being the die hard knife fans that we are, we were extremely pleased and grateful for all the hard work invested in producing another top notch factory piece.
