We have spent the last 27 years studying this and i can prove it beyond any doubt. Most people believe that it is there to allow the blade to be easily removed by blood escaping through the channel, thereby reducing suction. For example, you may want a tanto, but are willing to sacrifice some of the point strength for control and piercing ability.

Knife Collecting Facts 2% vanadium content. These are more expensive, but affordable. Using conventional casting methods, ingots must still be passed through a blooming mill in order to produce slabs thin enough to enter a continuous mill. Blade spine - this is the thickest part of a blade. An ulu knife is a sharpened half-circle. Fullering produces two spines on the blade, one on each side of the fuller where the edge bevels come in contact with the fuller.
