The Benchmade 810  Contego a Warren Osborne design is a wieldy 4-inch blade knife which can be had either with partially serrated or full straight sharp blade. It has great balance and flips open with a slight push of the thumb stud, and locks up with the AXIS lock mechanism. The Contego folder is built with toughness and durability for any occasion. Reverse Tanto for toughness, large-bellied blade for all the utility cutting you can throw at it, heavily milled and textured G10 scales to help you get a firm grip on any situation, and a carbide glass breaker for use in a real bind. Contego comes from the Latin meaning “Protect or Shield” which is a great name for this beautiful and well made all purpose knife. The M4 premium steel is much sought after and the Osborne style is just superb in the world of production knives. A pocket clip makes sure that it stays secure deep inside the pocket.

It's a stout, quality knife

Great knife, but I gave it four stars because, even with my calloused hands, the scales aren't meant for extended use. It would be great for gloved hands (dunno about opening it with gloves) or for occasional use when things are slippery. It ain't a slipper, that's for sure. It is just too abrasive on the hands for my needs.
Outstanding blade

I ordered mine right here from KW when it first became available. I own a few BM knives and this is my favorite by far. Fits in the hand great, and carries like a smaller knife due to its thin-ness. Pro's: Thin, enough blade weight to flip open without the need of the blade stud, deep carry pocket clip, blade material (CPM-M4 steel is hard=excellent edge retention, much better than 154CM), axis lock, easy to sharpen on my edge pro apex. I am a commercial/industrial electrician my knife gets worked. Anything from peeling an orange to stripping 600 MCM wire the knife works great AND has a good feel. After carrying this knife for around two years, I would never want to back to a smaller knife. I have had no problems with rust on the cutting edge. The con's: the pocket clip will loosen if carried enough (no big deal), the blade coating shows wear (NBD) and the edge will flake if you clobber something hard. BM designed a winner with this model.
Outstanding Knife

Benchmade quality with superior steel, CPM-M4. A few strokes on a ceramic rod and you will be carrying a razor in your pocket.

I gave a 4 because of 2 small reasons. The clip bends easily and is easy to hook on things. Secondly the blade coating seems to get and stay dirty. It is rough so it holds the dirt, sap ect. However the good is this blade steel is in my opinion the best blade steel I have messed with. Sharpened it when it came in and haven't even had to touch it up in 3 months. I have cut limbs for cooking hotdogs, boxes at work and home, plastic bags, and even whittled a little. Make sure to understand this knife is huge and the G10 is very grippy. This is a very good edc if you like having a blade this size.
