In 1905, W.R. Case
and Sons moved operations to a new factory on Bank Street, In Bradford,
Pennsylvania. At that time, the largest Case stockholder was Herbert
Crandall, brother-in-law of the company founder, Russ Case. Crandall
ran his own factory in Bradford, Crandall Cutlery Company, until 1911
when he merged his business with W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company.
One part of the Crandall influence can be seen in the "Long Tail C"
of the Case logo. Case adopted this shortly after the Crandall
Acquisition.
The Crandall Acquisition Set consists
of the beautifully crafted Walnut Bone 6172 SS Clasp with Crandall
jigging and tang stamp, along with the Case Bowtie Shield. The knife
adorns exquisite blade artwork and the "Long Tail C" serialization. It
is displayed in a nostalgic wooden box featuring portraits of the two
men. No more than 500 of these sets will be produced.
