Not everyone can afford $200 or more for a top quality folding knife. Even $150 is pushing it for many. However, everyone deserves a knife they can trust their life to in extreme conditions, a knife you can bet your life on™.  The Doug Ritter Mini RSK® Mk1 meets that goal at an affordable price. This is a collaborative evolution of Benchmade's Mini Griptilian™ folder produced exclusively to Doug's specifications. "RSK®" stands for Ritter Survival Knife, an indication of its strength and reliability, but it's really a perfectly practical everyday carry knife. Thousands have been sold and are in daily use throughout the world, from urban city to Alaskan wilderness to Middle-Eastern war zones.

The sturdy black ergonomic glass-filled Noryl GTX handles, full stainless inset liners and patented super strong ambidextrous AXIS™ Lock are pure Griptilian™. This is a handle that just plain works with a secure non-slip grip and a pronounced finger guard for safety, as well as a full-size lanyard hole. The pocket clip is reversible.

What helps sets the Mini RSK® Mk1 apart is Doug's wide-chord and robust drop point blade design. This is a traditional blade style, very strong all the way to the point and very versatile, if not particularly "sexy" or "tactical." In today's politically correct world, that may not be such a bad thing for an everyday carry blade.

The blade's spine incorporates a prominent ramped thumb rest for enhanced control and security. This thumb rest portion of the spine also does an excellent job creating sparks using an artificial flint and can be used with the knife closed for added safety.

The 2.88 in. (7.32 cm) blade has a high, flat grind for cutting ease and strength. This grind makes for excellent slicing geometry; field reports confirm that it is an extraordinarily efficient slicer.

Dual thumb lugs provide ambidextrous opening, easy even with gloves on, completing the fully ambidextrous nature of the Mini RSK® Mk1.

Topping this all off, the 0.100 in. (2.54 mm) thick blade is made of Crucible's superb, premium performance CPM S30V high-carbon stainless steel. It's proven tough and holds an edge.

The blade finish is a strikingly beautiful, but very practical "stone washed" tumbled finish that also serves to seal the metal's pores for added protection and strength. The result is a subdued finish, but one that is smooth and just barely lustrous. The finishing media and process was designed expressly for this knife to get the exclusive finish quality Doug desired.

Best EDC!

I first bought the mini and carried it everywhere. I don't want a knife that doesn't get used and big knives get left at home. It is so light and the blade takes a wicked edge that I hack everything up from cardboard, weeds, small tree limbs and my steak! It was such a great steel that I got the big one and now that's all I carry. Two guys at work liked it so much they both got the big one too and had them engraved. I hate liner locks and love the brilliant engineering of this simple solid lock. When your hands are cold a little tug and it releases and back in the pocket it goes. A few licks on a 1000 grit and a strop on the 6000 and I'm good to go. Sometimes I hit it with a little chromium oxide and it's shave ready. You can't beat this knife for this price. I hope it doesn't go up because I'm sure I'll be getting some more.

This was my first Benchmade knife and first Griptilian. I decided on the mini as I have no need or desire to carry anything larger. After reading about Doug Ritter, his background, Knife Rights Org. and his particular design of this Griptilian for Benchmade, I purchased it. (A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each Doug Ritter RSK® Knife goes to support the non-profit Equipped To Survive Foundation. Equipped To Survive) I chose the MINI RSK MK1 because of its size and that it has a Stone washed CPM S30V high-carbon stainless steel blade with a completely different shape and grind (Wide-Chord Drop Point + High Flat grind) then the generic stock Griptilian's. I also wanted my first 'Orange' handle knife and first 'stone washed' blade, both look great! Some people complain about the "feel" of the scales being too "plastic-y" (Glass-filled Noryl GTX).... not for me, they feel and look great. Fits and rides perfectly deep down in my front pocket because of its size and comfortable rounded ends. I wish the larger size Ritter RSK MK1, Griptilian came with Olive Drab/O.D. scales I would purchase it in a "N.Y. second"! My first experience doing business with knifeworks.com has been nothing short of "SUPERB".... friendly and personable service + faster than lightening shipping. Not east to find and all American company online these days that actually understands what customer retention is all about. Thanks knifeworks!
