Spyderco Yojimbo 2 is the second generation self-defense knife designed by martial artist and Martial Blade Concepts innovator Michael Janich. The Yojimbo2 has a viscous 3.25" hollow ground, giving it a stronger tip than its predecessor, CPM-S30V Wharncliffe style stainless steel blade. The textured black G10 scales have refined ergonomics giving a hollow feel in the palm as opposed to concave in the first one. Torx screw construction secures them to nested stainless steel liners and a Compression lock gives it a better overall blade strength. The thumb rest was left smooth on this version so the thumb can slide right on to the spine without tearing it up. The handle is shorter emphasizing maximum striking control. Features a four-way reversible stainless steel pocket clip for right/left hand tip-up or down carry. Made in USA.

Beyond expectations...

1st & foremost, Knifeworks, Inc. offers this amazing piece of cutlery at the lowest price I was able to find online. Plus, it was delivered w/in 3 days... engraved! Superb service. The Yojimbo 2 is in a class of its own. Yes, the hole is a little smaller than expected and it takes practice to deploy it as one would wish. And as other reviewies has also pointed out, the compression lock tends to "bite" you upon deployment, but once you get past these minor nuisances, you will surely love this folder. Though its intended design is obvious, self-defense, it can be used for utilitarian purposes, be forewarned however that though it has a thick spine, the actual cutting edge of the blade is very thin. Heavy and/or hard use could possibly damage it. This is my primary EDC and 8th Spyderco. To put it in perspective, of the couple of dozen of folders I own, (some more than twice the cost of this one) I favor this design. The only thing that I would change, is the clip, but a little black matte spray paint will resolve that matter. This blade is worth every cent... go for it.
