Designed for all-weather use, this patented fire-starting system
functions superbly in the most extreme marine, arctic, desert,
and jungle environments. The BlastMatchTM was
developed for Air Force fighter pilots at risk of being shot
down in harsh terrain, or the mountain climber dealing with
challenging alpine conditions. People like these must have a
fire starter that is operable with one hand in case of injury,
that won't disappoint you by running out of fuel, and never
fails to light in the wind, rain, or snow.
The BlastMatchTM creates a stream of
sparks three times as hot as a standard match and easily will
ignite any material (wood, paper, bark, cloth, or man-made fire
starting tinders) that a match will light. You can precisely aim
the sparks to ignite a roaring fire in any weather conditions.
If the BlastMatchTM becomes wet, just
wipe it off and it is all set for use. In conjunction with
WetFireTM Starting Tinder, you can
start a fire even in the driving rain.
At the center of the BlastMatchTM is a
custom bar of high performance flint material. Spring loaded to
be compact; the flint bar also turns 360 degrees to help avoid
uneven wear and tear. A tungsten carbide striker built into the
striker button is positioned at the exact angle for maximum
sparking - taking any guesswork out of starting a fire.
Incorporated into the BlastMatchTM is
a safety feature to prevent unintentional ignition when
accidentally plunged. The unique design calls for the operator
to press the thumb button in order to connect the striker
mechanism.
