Over a year ago I contacted Jeff Randall and Mike Perrin about designing an ESEE folder. After a few discussions, Jeff and Mike Perrin had agreed to design a folder and we came up with the name Zancudo. Once the product was a for sure go, we talked to BlueRidge Knives and they agreed to have this knife manufactured. We just received the first sample from them with our EXCLUSIVE orange handle, and let me tell you this folder has one of the sharpest blades I have ever seen from Taiwan. Mike and Jeff have outdone themselves on this amazing folder, with it's ability to get you out of a bind in the woods while camping or hiking or for simple everyday use. We are so excited to be a part of this first EVER folder from ESEE knives.

These knives were manufactured by Proceeding Manufacture in Taiwan, which is owned and operated by Paul Lin. One of the leading manufactures in Taiwan because of the quality of knives they produce.

Knifeworks is proud to be part of this design from the beginning.

I think this will be a winner,

Roger Claunch

The Zancudo, which is the Spanish word for mosquito, is the first ever folder from ESEE. The blade resembles ESEE's Laser Strike fixed blade with it's Drop Point Blade Style. It also features textured nylon handles and dual thumb studs. I think this folder will be compatible for everyone.

GOOD STUFFReview by Joel Jämsen
Excellent blade. Priced well. Looks extremely well designed and beautiful. Heavy, stiff, framelock for under 30 bucks.. amazing Some small negatives though. Very small, to be used as an outdoors blade. And the handle is very thin ! I am going to make my own g-10 or micarta scale on it, to replace the orange, and make it twice as thick for improved grip. I have had this knife in my pocket every day now for over two months. I can't find a flaw in it. It was well thought out and designed. The fit and finish is excellent, as is the stonewash finish! From past experience with AUS-8 steel years ago I have never been a fan of it. This knife changed my mind though.. it came shaving sharp, holds an edge very well, and a couple of lite passes on a strop and it is deadly sharp again. In my book this knife will hold it's own with knives many times it's price. I have many that are so I can say that honestly. I highly reccomend this knife to anyone looking for a good knife at a more than fair price! That is all..... ;) (Posted on 12/27/2013)
I've had this knife for about a month now and it is my new daily carry. The action is very smooth and opens easily one-handed. Very happy with this knife overall. Unbelievable value for $26! (Posted on 12/1/2013)
I got this a few weeks ago from KW and am super impressed with it. The design is nothing new but it is comfortable in hand, tough, and takes a razor sharp edge. This is now one of the knives in my work rotation, just wish it were a bit bigger like Rat1 size. (Posted on 10/12/2013)
Replaces the CRKT Drifter as my favorite inexpensive beater knife. Mine flicks open easily and is at about 70% lockup after a hundred or so openings. The stonewash finish isn't like what you'd expect on a $200 blade but is just fine and shrugs off tape-marks, dirt, or whatever you'll get on it through daily use. I have large hands and yet it feels secure with no hot-spots (after reversing the clip). Next step up would be a RAT 1 (too heavy and bulky for me) or a Tenacious (pricier). Well done to all involved! (Posted on 10/10/2013)
ESEE ZANCUDOReview by Paul
Pretty nice, I was expecting it to be similar in quality and materials as the RAT 1 and its similar. 4 things that could be better though are the top of the blade is not flush with the handle which isnt the most comfortable, the pocket clip sticks out a bit much which offsets the slim feeling of the knife, the tip of the blade barely sticks out of the handle so its possible it could slice you and the detent is way too strong, its hard to close and you have to really put pressure on the thumbstud to flick it open but the detent can be modified unlike the other things, other than that Its pretty good, the orange looks much better than the other color options and the stonewashing is very well done, I will enjoy carrying and using this as a secondary edc. For $26 its all there and then some.

AMAZINGReview by Denis Runev
After RAT1 this is a nice, small piece of knife in your pocket. Well build, ideal EDC size, shaving sharp, but the grinding is not too symmetrical, it will be fixed after first sharpening. So it's awesome knife for such small price. (Posted on 10/9/2013)
BEST $27 KNIFE I'VE EVER SEENReview by Frankie
This knife is amazing for the price. The fit and finish is flawless, razor sharp, nice even grinds, blade is dead center, lockup is rock solid..etc. The knives coming out of Taiwan lately have been very impressive. (Posted on 10/8/2013)
AWESOME EDCReview by casey

GREAT KNIFEReview by June
Knife Feels sturdy and well made. Came very sharp out of box. The Zancudo Folder is not too small, if your a big knife fan like me you will still enjoy this blade. Buy now before the price goes up, definitely a great buy. (Posted on 9/25/2013)
I like larger blades, but this knife is a lot of value in it's little package. The blade was razor sharp, the action is smooth and quick, and talk about light weight! Great fit & finish. I just wish I could get it in a 3.5 inch size! But you won't be disapointed. (Posted on 9/24/2013)
LOTS OF BANG, LITTLE BUCK.Review by Mike Krkljus
How anyone can rate these knives without having seen them is beyond me. I got mine last week just in time for a camping trip this weekend. I wanted to reserve judgment until I had some carry and use with this little knife. I say little, because it,s thin, and very easy to carry, regardless of the 3oz carry weight. Nothing so far has convinced me to replace my Delica 4 as an EDC during my work hours on the job doing construction, but outside of work I enjoy carrying this knife because of it's size and weight. Everything about it is well built. The lockup is tight, with plenty of room for wear, the blade is centered, and blade retention is solid. While the tolerances are tight out of the box, I can see this knife wearing in very well and becoming a favorite of mine. As another review mentioned, the quality is insane for a sub $30 knife. I own a Laser Strike, and I'm glad the tip on this Zancudo is more of a drop point than the LS, it makes it more useful in daily tasks. While camping it did everything a pocket knife should do, and I liked it more as the weekend wore on. While I didn't use it for batoning, I did use it to make a couple feather sticks and it worked great. I will give it a knock on the jimping because it is set just beneath the handle scales, and is not long enough, but if you get your finger in the right position it is more useful than not having any. IMO, small knives like this are not for beating on, that's what bigger knives and fixed blades are for. As a pocket knife this little thing is a win. And for the price, I haven't come across something better yet. Not that I'm an expert, but I've been looking. The Zancudo delivers. (Posted on 9/23/2013)
AS GOOD AS THE RAT 1 OR 2Review by jhb
Low ratings are silly. Just got mine. Fit and finish is incredible at this price point. Came sharp enough to whittle hair. Blade is centered. No play side to side or up and down. Bevels are very even. Lockup is about perfect...not to early....far from late. Plentybof break in room. Only negative thing I got to say is the scales near the jimping on the blade are a bit higher than id like....but a personal issue that others wont likely notice. Thanks to Roger and the gals...they sent me a great one. Really appreciated. (Posted on 9/20/2013)
This thing is a pocket laser - the amount of detail in that's included for such an inexpensive knife is amazing. For sure anywhere else this thing could sell for $50 + shipping & it would STILL be a great deal. Get one today! (Posted on 9/19/2013)
